Prose 2- That Sunday Morning
SPIN A YARN
The starting of a story is given. Develop it into a
humorous story.
Once there lived a boy who
bragged endlessly about himself. He would
constantly tell his friends how smart, strong, and fearless he was. “I can
climb the tallest trees, outrun the fastest animals, and solve the hardest
puzzles!” he boasted one day. His friends, tired of his constant bragging,
decided to teach him a lesson.
One afternoon, they dared him to
climb the tallest tree in the park to prove his claims. “Of course, I can do it
blindfolded!” the boy said confidently, tying a handkerchief over his eyes. He
started climbing with great enthusiasm, while his friends tried hard to
suppress their giggles.
Halfway up the tree, he suddenly
felt something soft and furry brush against his face. “Is that a bird?” he
shouted nervously. “No,” his friends called out, barely able to contain their
laughter. “It’s probably a giant squirrel!” Panicking, the boy flailed his
arms, thinking he was under attack. He let go of the tree, landing safely on a
pile of leaves below.
When he removed the blindfold, he saw his friends laughing hysterically. “What squirrel?!” he demanded. They pointed to a harmless little twig with leaves stuck to it, the “giant squirrel” that had scared him. From that day on, the boy thought twice before bragging—because his friends always had another “challenge” up their sleeves!

N. Work in groups and write a paragraph on “Laughter is the best
medicine.”
Laughter is the best
medicine. It can relieve us from any kind of stress, making life more enjoyable
and less burdensome. In today’s fast-paced world, life has become monotonous,
and people are often too busy to prioritize their health. Stressful work schedules
and daily responsibilities leave little time for relaxation and joy. A hearty
laugh not only lightens the mood but also strengthens relationships, boosts the
immune system, and enhances mental well-being. To sum up, laughter is a simple
yet powerful way to lead a healthier and happier life, reminding us of the
importance of maintaining a sense of humor.
O. Look at the cartoon strips. Create your own humorous story.
Two friends, Rohan and Mohan,
were enjoying a cheerful walk up a hill. While playfully teasing each other,
Rohan accidentally pushed Mohan, who tumbled down the slope with a yell.
Feeling guilty, Rohan rushed to help but lost his balance and rolled down after
him. Both landed in a heap under a coconut tree.
As they sat up, rubbing their
bruises, two coconuts decided it was their turn to join the fun. Thud!
Both friends got bonked on the head. They stared at each other, comically
holding their swollen bumps.
But instead of being angry,
they burst into laughter, realizing how ridiculous the situation was. To make
the most of it, they cracked open the coconuts and enjoyed the refreshing
water, sipping away and giggling over their misadventure.
