Daily-life application:

3. Introduction
The teacher may begin the lesson by asking:
Can one person play a football match alone? Why?
What happens when all the members of a team work together?
Have you ever worked with your friends to complete a difficult task?
Is winning more important than helping your teammates?
What qualities should a good team member have?
The teacher then introduces the poem:
“Today we are going to learn a poem that tells us that individual talent and success are valuable, but true success comes when we work together as a team.”
The title “Team Work” is written on the board.

C. Understanding the Stanzas
Stanza 1:
Individual courage and skill are good, but one person's achievement alone does not show everything about a person. Success requires working with others towards a larger goal.
Stanza 2:
A person may receive praise and fame, but cannot succeed in a team game without cooperating with teammates. Success or failure depends on the spirit of the team.
Stanza 3:
It is good to be praised for one's skill, but it is better to concentrate on the common goal and help others when they need support. A good team member puts aside selfish interests and works for the whole team.

Summary of the Poem
The poem “Team Work” by Edgar A. Guest highlights the importance of teamwork and cooperation. The poet says that courage, talent and skill are valuable, but individual achievement alone is not enough. In life, people must work together towards a common goal.
A person may receive praise and fame for his or her ability, but success cannot be achieved without cooperating with others. The poet compares life to a game in which victory or defeat depends on the spirit of the team.
The poet further advises us not to be selfish. Instead, we should help our fellow members, especially when they appear to have little chance of succeeding. We should forget our personal interests and work for the success of the whole team.
